(LIVING AN ESPERANTO LIFE)

Ricky Martin So, English speakers, you may have been asking what the deal is with Esperanto (or if you haven't asked, ask now). Well, the deal is that it's an artificial language created by Polish linguist L.L. Zamenhof back in 1887. The language actually combines elements from dozens of existing languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek, Latin, Russian and Polish. Esperanto was created to serve as a second language that people could use for international business and affairs. So instead of a world traveler needing to speak dozens of langauges, he or she can use Esperanto to speak with the people of the various lands they visit.
